Content description

«Don't stare so romantically!» Can we escape to the theatre when reality keeps catching up with us? South Korean director Kyung-Sung Lee and the Residenztheater ensemble take a scenic look at their own theatre experiences, Bertolt Brecht's theory of the «A Short Organum for the Theatre» and the question of whether theatre can offer orientation in times of crisis.

What do we need to make theatre? Does theatre have a tangible impact on our lives? Does making and performing theatre shape our convictions and attitudes?
Can we even find our own stance in today's world? Do we need attitudes to protect us from currents that tear at us? Can an unshakeable attitude not also lead to exclusion from social spaces?
Based on a reading of Bertolt Brecht's 77-part «A Short Organum for the Theatre», South Korean theatre director Kyung-Sung Lee, founder and director of the Seoul-based theatre ensemble Creative VaQi, who already showed the docu-fiction «Borderline» in Munich in 2020, and the Residenztheater ensemble explore the current crises in Korea, Germany and the world today.
Together, they will explore on stage the extent to which Brecht could still help us today to find our own stance and better understand the world.
