Sara Dec
Sara Dec (*1992 in Bayern) ist Theatermacherin und bildende Künstlerin. Über akademische Umwege kam sie ans Theater, wo sie als Regisseurin und Dramaturgin arbeitet. Ihr künstlerisches Schaffen speist sich aus ihrer hohen Affinität für menschliche Kommunikations- und Handlungsprozesse und deren Störanfälligkeiten ‒ und entsteht daher immer kollaborativ. Während ihrer Zeit als Regieassistentin u.a. am Burgtheater in Wien, dem Münchner Residenztheater, dem Theater Basel sowie weiteren Stationen im osteuropäischen Ausland arbeitete sie als Gemeindedolmetscherin und übersetzte zwischen den Sprachen Bulgarisch, Deutsch und Polnisch. Anschließend war sie bis 2025 beim Theatertreffen der Berliner Festspiele als Leitungsreferentin tätig.
Nach ihrer Mitwirkung bei «(Nicht)Mütter!» und «Ein Bericht für eine Akademie» folgt mit «Mercury» für sie das dritte Projekt am Residenztheater.
Performing in
Freddie Mercury, front man of the legendary British rock band Queen, spent a lot of time in Munich from 1979 to 1985. He lived in several apartments here, forged close friendships and recorded his first solo album. What drew him to the Isar? Love, the wild nightlife and the many meeting points of the city’s gay community? The Musicland Studios of Giorgio Moroder and their pioneering innovations in electronic music? Or did he simply want to avoid the rigid British tax laws?
Mercury
22 voices talk about their mothers, becoming a mother, being a mother, never wanting to become a mother or not wanting to become a mother and not being able to become a mother. They intertwine to create a piece about decisions, doubts, (miscarriages) births, cancellations, transformations and courageous actions.
