«What do I dream of? Mhm… (laughs) ... Actually of a society that has abolished the term ‹normal›, where the idea no longer exists. I think that would be a big achievement.»
The text of «(Non)Mothers!» weaves together answers from 22 interviews on the subject of (non-)motherhood – into a play about decisions, doubts (still) births, terminations, transformations and actions of bravery. The manifold lived experiences of diverse women and persons who present as female find a platform here along with perspectives, experiences and feelings that society has made and continues to make taboo. 22 voices speak about their mothers, about becoming a mother, being a mother, never wanting or definitely wanting to be a mother and being unable to become a mother.
The actors Barbara Horvath and Lisa Stiegler and DJ* Theresa «BiMän» Bittermann give these voices a body and an echo chamber where a polyphonic conversation develops that is open to everyone – whether they are mothers or not.
