Born on a stormy night, little Ronia becomes the apple of her father Mattis’s eye – and that of his band of robbers. But the years go by quickly and soon she feels drawn towards the mysterious Mattis Forest and its remarkable inhabitants: the devious grey gnomes, the irascible rumple goblins and the cruel wild druids. On her fearless voyage of discovery, Ronia comes across Birk, son of their archenemy Borka. Secretly the two become friends.
