About «My Uncle» by Ariel Wolf

on 18 May 2026

In February 1919, Kurt Eisner, then Prime Minister of Bavaria, was murdered in the street by Baron Anton von Arco, a young officer. Many years later, two young men meet quite by chance in Israel – one is Ariel Wolf, a relative of Kurt Eisner, the other is the murderer’s nephew. The Israeli author Ariel Wolf is currently developing a play about this political murder and its consequences, and talks about his research.

About the author

Ariel Wolf

Theater director, movement designer for stage and film, actor, and dramaturg, working across Israel’s repertory theaters alongside his independent theater company. His directing moves between contemporary plays and re-readings of classical texts. Within his independent framework, he focuses on recent contemporary writing from the past years, often introducing such works to the Israeli audience; his latest production was a play by Elfriede Jelinek, presented for the first time in Hebrew on an Israeli stage. He has collaborated as a movement designer with all major repertory theaters in Israel, as well as in Opera and film, including work on films by Nadav Lapid, recipient of awards at the Cannes, Berlin, and Locarno film festivals. His work has received various awards in Israel and has been presented both in Israel and internationally. «My Uncle» is Wolf’s first full-length play.

About «Bertold und Agnes» by Noa Lazar-Keinan

on 21 June 2026

Noa Lazar-Keinan’s talent lies in her ability to write compelling dialogue about ordinary people confronting life’s extraordinary challenges. Her characters feel so alive that they seem instantly familiar. She has already demonstrated this in her comedy »Short Circuit«, which was presented as a guest production at WELT∕BÜHNE in 2023 and has since been performed on numerous German stages. In her play »Bertold and Agnes«, she portrays a couple who have grown old together in happiness. But as they set off for a family gathering, it becomes clear that Agnes is increasingly at home in her memories rather than in the present.
