With her silent protest in front of the Swedish parliament building in 2018 the then 15-year-old Greta Thunberg initiated a global movement. Fridays for Future strikes have now been going on for three years. Schoolchildren and young adults demonstrate for a future worth living in and against inaction in the face of a climate catastrophe that is already happening. The dramatist Jordan Tannahill’s play «Is My Mic On?» has been inspired by Greta Thunberg’s speeches – it is both a call to arms and a declaration of love. Accompanied by a DJane, 17 young women aged between 13 and 22 make themselves heard, highlight humanity’s most urgent problem and ask: at what age do we begin to be independently politically active? Can there be inter-generational justice? How can every individual be inspired to protect the world’s future?
