Here's how it works:
As several novels will be adapted for the stage at the Residenztheater during the 25/26 season, we want to explore these literary works in our new book club format. We will set aside one afternoon each month and take over the Marstall Salon for exchange, debate and discussion. We plan to devote two sessions, one month apart, to each work.
First meeting: We will read the beginning of the book together, talk about our first impressions and the historical context. No preparation is necessary for this session. Anyone who wishes to do so is welcome to bring the book with them. After the first book club meeting, participants are invited to attend the corresponding performance by the second meeting at the latest (often possible immediately afterwards; tickets can be purchased through regular ticket sales).
Second meeting: About a month later, we meet again after reading the book and/or attending the performance. We discuss our reading and viewing experiences and compare how we experienced the story on paper and on stage. Ideally, by this point, you will have either read (most of) the book or seen the play.
