Roland Koch
Geboren 1959 in der Schweiz, studierte Roland Koch Psychologie und Ethnologie an der Universität Zürich sowie Schauspiel an der Schauspielakademie Zürich. Seit 1999 prägt er als Ensemblemitglied das Wiener Burgtheater. Ab 2015 war er zudem regelmäßiger Gast am Theater Basel. Eine intensive Zusammenarbeit verbindet ihn u. a. mit den Regisseur*innen Andreas Kriegenburg, Simon Stone und Andrea Breth. Im Fernsehen war er von 2011 bis 2015 als Schweizer Ermittler Matteo Lüthi im SWR Tatort Konstanz zu erleben. Eigene Regiearbeiten inszenierte er u. a. am Landestheater Niederösterreich St. Pölten und am Theater St. Gallen. Seit 2018 ist er zudem Professor am Max Reinhardt Seminar Wien. Die bedeutendste österreichische Theaterauszeichnung, den Nestroy-Preis erhielt er 2015 für seine Rolle als Wilhelm Foldal in Simon Stones Inszenierung «John Gabriel Borkman». Seit der Spielzeit 2019/2020 ist er Gast im Ensemble des Residenztheaters.

When Joe’s drug-dependent wife Harper retreats into dreams of everlasting ice, his strictly religious mother flies in outraged from Salt Lake City. The Republican Roy Cohn, a cynical and power-obsessed lawyer, insists until his last breath that he is not gay and does not have AIDS. Even on his deathbed, he refuses to stop arguing about this with his black nurse Belize. And then an angel breaks through Prior’s bedroom ceiling.
